The Federal Government is hereby notified of the deplorable state of roads in Esanland, Edo State,. The most affected is the Agbor- Ewohimi- Igueben road; the Federal road linking Delta and Edo State
The people of this area has lamented the deplorable state of the road from Agbor, Delta State to various Esan communites such as, Igbanke, Itah, Ekpon, Ebele, Ewohimi, Ebele, Ewato, Igueben, and many other towns and villages of Esanland has become death traps.
Many road crashes have taken place on a regular basis, leading to deaths and injury of many travelers, who ply the roads.
The Federal roads in Esanland have been badly neglected. Despite the fact that the Minister of Works, is an indigene of the area, nothing of note has been noticed, and the federal road leading to his Uromi community is in deplorable condition, causing the untimely deaths of unsuspecting road users.
It will be recalled that the people of the area are mainly farmers and businessmen, and they find it difficult to move their agricultural produce to the major cities and towns, where they are needed or transact business of any kind.
It is worrisome that despite the huge resources realised from crude oil in the past 15 years, the government could not fix these roads, and the people’s agricultural produce are unable to make it to the market, thereby making them poorer and misfits in a society where survival is for the fittest.
The poor roads in his area are impacting negatively on economic development of the people, and that investors and businessmen/women have shun his area like a plague.
We therefore call on the federal government to come to our aid before it becomes too late or before the bad roads cut us away from civilization and from the rest of the world.
